Have you been incarcerated Updated 1.5.26

Have you been incarcerated or are you currently on probation? Do you want to help change our unjust criminal legal system?

Join DARE’s Behind the Walls Committee! ✊🏽🔥

We are a group of directly impacted people, family members, and community members organizing for prison and criminal justice reform in Rhode Island. Together, we support one another, fight for policy change, and work to build a system rooted in dignity, second chances, and community.

Some of the work we do includes:
📬 Writing to incarcerated people
⚖️ Helping people with expungements
💰 Assisting with court costs, restitution, and probation or home confinement fees
🤝 Providing court support and re-entry support
🏘️ Building community through neighborhood clean-ups and outreach

Right now, we’re organizing to pass legislation that would:
✔️ Create bail for 32F probation violations so people can fight their cases from home instead of a jail cell
✔️ Automate expungements and remove barriers to second chances

Join us every Wednesday from 6 PM–8 PM at DARE!
🍽️ Dinner is provided
🧸 Childcare is available upon request

No experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, organize, and support one another. Your voice and your lived experience matter.
